Calls to Worship

From Psalm 145

Leader:  We will extol you, our God and King, and bless your name forever and ever.

People: Every day we will bless you, and praise your name forever and ever.

Leader: Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised, and his greatness is unsearchable.

People: Let us bless the Lord: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Let us worship God.

For Easter

Leader: Alleluia! Christ is risen!

People: He is risen indeed! Alleluia!

Leader: The stone the builders rejected has become the capstone;

People: The Lord has done this; and it is marvelous in our eyes.

Leader: This is the day the Lord has made;

All: Let us rejoice and be glad in it.

From Psalm 93

Leader:  The Lord is king, he is robed in majesty;

People:  The Lord is robed, he is girded with strength. He has established the world; it shall never be moved;

Leader:  Your throne is established from of old; you are from everlasting.

People:  The floods have lifted up, O Lord, the floods have lifted up their voice; the floods lift up their roaring.

Leader:  More majestic than the thunders of mighty waters, more majestic than the waves of the sea, majestic on high is the Lord!

People:  Your decrees are very sure; holiness befits your house, O Lord. Blessed be the holy and undivided Trinity, now and forever.

From Augustine’s Confessions, Book I, Chapters I and IV

Leader:  Great are you O Lord, and greatly to be praised!

People:  Great is your power, and of your wisdom there is no end.

Leader:  Unchangeable, yet changing all things,

People:  Never new, never old, making all things new.

Leader:  Though we are only a small part of your creation, you move us to delight in praising you,

People:  For you have made us for yourself, and our hearts are restless until they rest in you.
